Versus their arch-rival in the Sailors of Mona Shores, the Rockets did not hold anything back Friday night. Reeths-Puffer improved to 7-1 on the season with an inspiring performance at Mona Shores in a game that few will forget for a very long time. Leading 25-13 at half, the Rockets overcame a stoppage in time and a potentially serious injury to senior Trevor Mosher and a 3rd quarter momentum swing by the Sailors, to hold off for the victory in the 4th quarter. The Rockets nearly broke their own season records in rushing and total yards, with over 400 yards rushing and over 100 through the air. Defensively, the Rockets managed to take away most of what the explosive Sailors wanted to do. Fortunately, it proved to be enough in the 32-28 contest.
Thursday night the JV lost a tough one to the Sailors, 28-6. The Freshman were able to pull out a nail biter, 35-34.
Overall, it was an emotional and incredibly satisfying week of Rocket Football. Next up are the Big Reds at Hackley Stadium. There is a movement to bring white hand towels by the Rocket faithful. See you there!
