Your Rockets played host to the Kenowa Hills Knights Friday night and yet again, proved to not disappoint with another convincing win, 36-16. The Rockets poured it on early with scores by Julian Munday, Dereko Riley, and Corey Plichta and key receptions from QB Garrett Blanshine to Deandre Oaks-Owens, Trevor Mosher, and Dereko Riley. The defense was also stout led by Josh Buie with 21 tackles and Austin Malotke with 13 and two forced fumbles. Jumping out to a 22-0 halftime lead, the Rockets eventually got it up to 29-0 before some Rocket turnovers and Kenowa big plays helped the Knights fight back with two scores in the second half. It would not be enough, however, as the Rockets compiled nearly 300 of total offense and forced the Kenowa Hills offense into 4 costly turnovers. It was another key win for the Rockets as they improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the OK Black Conference. The Rockets visit the 5-0 Zeeland East Chix next Friday in what will certainly be the Rockets’ toughest test yet. Please come support the team as they try to shock West Michigan prep football fans and take one step closer to reaching their playoff goal!
In Thursday’s Freshman and JV contests, the Rockets went 1-1, with the Freshman showing a dominating defeat over the Knights, 53-7 and the JV falling 20-0. Both squads have vastly improved over the course of the season. The Freshman will face off against the Fruitport Trojans (ZE does not have a Fresh team) while the JV will play home against the Chix this Thursday.
