Your Rockets Varsity squad capped off a great end to week 3 with an impressive win over the Wildcats of Jenison, 42-7. At Jenison, the Rockets poured it on early with their ground attack while the defense forced three turnovers and prevented Jenison’s spread offense from ever gaining a rhythm. With nine minutes left in the third quarter, the Rockets had a running clock on the Wildcats and never looked back. Now with a record of 2-1, the Rockets look to continue their momentum into next week, as they host East Kentwood.
The Rockets JV squad came so close to beating the Wildcats Thursday night in what amounted to be a defensive struggle for both teams. Behind 7-0 with 25 seconds remaining in the game, the Rockets connected on a touchdown pass and were faced with the decision, kick the PAT for the 7-7 tie or win the game with a two point conversion? Sadly, the conversion attempt was no good but the toughness and will to win displayed by our kids was certainly something to build on. Great job, Rockets.
The Rockets Freshman fared better in their game Thursday against Hudsonville–who beat them the previous week (Jenison does not have a Freshman team). Travelling this time to Eagles stadium, the Rockets avenged their loss from a week ago and beat the Eagles 26-22 in a very physical game. We are very proud of you guys!
Next week, the Rockets match up against the Falcons of East Kentwood in what should be a real test at all three levels. Best of luck guys!
