Both the 7th and 8th Grade Rocket Football teams started the season on a high note yesterday as they travelled to West Ottawa in the season opener. The 7th Grade team, in its first year as a part of the Reeths-Puffer Football Program, got things started with a 38-22 victory over the Panthers. Blake Farwig, Carter Fulton, Shawn Henderson, and Travondrae Diggs-Turner all scored touchdowns but it was the team’s collective effort that proved to be the difference for the Rockets. Congratulations to Coach Gaultney and his staff for a great start to the season!
The 8th grade team, under Head Coach, Mark Tescari and his staff, seemed to pick up right where the 7th grade left off. The Rockets got off to a quick start thanks in part to their stingy defense led by Gino “Plug” Romanelli and Max Briggs. Scoring for the Rockets was Nick Dailey, Trent Kovalcik, and one TD pass thrown by Josh Phistner to Logan Santose. All three extra points were solidly kicked through the uprights by Brennan Johnson.
The Middle School teams look to continue their success against rival, Mona Shores next Wednesday at home. Go Rockets!
